PA No. 002: Commanders v Eagles
Sept 13
Week 1: Tight Ends Can Catch and Run?!
The Crime: Eagles tight end (Dallas Goedert) waltzes into the end zone.
Down and Distance: 3rd-and-6: 4th Quarter (6:17) on Washington’s 43 yard line
Defensive Strategy: Make a half-assed effort for a yard or two, then stop.
Result: Touchdown.
Official Ruling: Entirely preventable.
Degree of Difficulty: Ehh, he hustled a bit.
Carm’s Coaching Note:
If the tight end has enough open field to get a 250-pound body up to speed, your defensive backs are no longer defending. They are watching a touchdown develop from a respectful distance.
Witten Index: 8.9/10
Large man. Medium urgency. Maximum defensive surprise.
